In the spring of 2024, Formas will open the call Career grant for early-career researchers 2024. The call is aimed at early-career researchers and welcomes early-career researchers to formulate their own research questions within Formas’ three areas of responsibility – Environment, Agricultural Sciences and Spatial Planning, and interdisciplinary research questions are encouraged in this call. The research we fund should be of the highest scientific quality and contribute to the researchers' continued career development.
There is a great need for people with expert skills who possess different combinations of skills and competences. For early-career researchers and their career development, it is essential to be able to independently run a research project of high scientific quality. It is also important to discover new directions for their research, expanding their networks and work in dynamic research environments supportive for the researcher's development. National and/or international mobility that involves work in other research environments broadens researchers' perspectives and contributes to internationalisation that strengthens the quality of research. Together, this strengthens researchers early in their careers and their opportunities to develop their competencies and skills to be able to contribute to and lead the work of meeting society's sustainability challenges now and in the future. This contributes to both the long-term supply of skills for people with research skills and to the continuous and long-term accumulation of knowledge in society.
