On the webinar on the 30th of January 2025 we presented the results from a government remit to evaluate the Swedish management of European eel. The evaluation is conducted by Formas in cooperation with an independent panel of international scientists.

About the webinar

At the webinar presentations was held by Anders Clarhäll, responsible for the assignment at Formas and Professor Sean Cox from Simon Fraser University, Canada, and chairman of the evaluation panel. Introduction and closing remarks of the webinar was held by Erik Eriksson, Head of Department Analysis and Policy at Formas

Sean Cox presented the analysis and evaluation of Swedish eel management recommendations for the upcoming revision of the Swedish Eel Management Plan. Recommendations follow the current managements plan’s principal areas of measures; reduction of the fishery, improved possibilities for migration, restocking of glass eels, and control.
