Welcome to a webinar on the 30th of January 2025 at 14.30-16.00 CET, where we will present the results from a government remit to evaluate the Swedish management of European eel. The evaluation is conducted by Formas in cooperation with an independent panel of international scientists.
At the webinar presentations will be held by Anders Clarhäll, responsible for the assignment at Formas and Professor Sean Cox, chairman of the international panel from Simon Fraser University in Canada. Introduction and closing remarks of the webinar will be held by Formas Director General Johan Kuylenstierna.
The webinar will be held in English and we will have a Q&A section at the end of the webinar.
Sean Cox will present the analysis and assessment of Swedish eel management and recommendations for the future from the evaluation regarding fisheries, turbin mortality, restocking and the existing research on eel. The panel has concluded a list of management ideas, research ideas, tools and measurements that have the possibility to improve the eel management in the future.
