Planned calls for proposals 2022
In 2022, Formas will provide close to 1.8 billion kronor in public funding for research and innovation on sustainable development. Most of these funds are awarded through competitive calls for proposals.
Researcher-initiated projects
Formas distributes a little over a third of its budget through calls that support researcher-initiated projects. The purpose of these calls is to enable researchers to tackle the research needs they themselves have identified within our areas of responsibility. Our researcher-initiated projects for 2022 are: the annual open call, mobility grants for early-career researchers, and urgent grants.
Thematic calls
During the year, we will announce several thematic calls that relate to our four national research programmes, on climate, the food system, sustainable spatial planning and on oceans and water. In addition, we will announce calls within the Smart Built Environment strategic innovation programme and a few that will be based on specific government mandates.
We will also announce several thematic calls involving international collaboration in order to give Swedish researchers the opportunity to partner with researchers in other countries within prioritised areas.
Below is an overview of the calls for 2022. We will be updating this list with more calls throughout the year. Therefore, all dates and focus areas are preliminary. Official decisions are made by the Formas Scientific Council and published under All calls.
